Dear Friend:

In 1999 a group of local residents interested in preserving local history came together to form the Ravena-Coeymans Historical Society (RCHS). That same year the society received its provisional charter from the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and in 2009 we received our Absolute charter.  This year marks the beginning of our second decade of preserving and exhibiting local history for future generations.

We invite you to consider joining our society, your support will not only allow for the continued preservation of local history but also provide speakers at our monthly meetings and support the operation of our Historical Society Museum.  Membership in RCHS is open to everyone and donations above the basic membership levels are tax-deductible.

Memberships are on an annual basis and expire at the end of each December.  With your paid membership you will receive access to our research center, RCHS special events and monthly meetings featuring interesting presentations on local history. In addition you will receive our bi-annual newsletter “The Hitching Post”, packed with many interesting articles about our local history and information on upcoming events.

Although all levels of membership are welcome, please consider joining at one of our other levels (see reverse).  This higher level of commitment provides additional funding to provide new exhibits, obtain new acquisitions and the preservation of our current inventory.   Preservation is very costly but necessary to ensure that all our materials are here for future generations to enjoy.  Any contribution in addition to your membership is greatly appreciated.

This past December we celebrated the opening of our latest exhibit “Schools of our Community” which will remain on exhibit throughout 2010. This exhibit traces the history of education in our community from colonial times until today.   In addition to our latest exhibit our museum includes many other historical artifacts from our area.

We hope you will consider becoming a member of our organization and help us to preserve our past for future generations.

Sincerely,

 William R. Meyer
